Stroke - unacceptable waits for brain scans and treatment

Medical negligence - delay in treatment for stroke

The results of the 2006 National Sentinel Audit for Stroke show that patients are spending more of their time on stroke units, but there are still unacceptable waits for brain scans and starting treatment.

Stroke affects 130,000 people a year in England and Wales and leads to complications such as paralysis, speech problems and other cognitive functions affected by brain damage. Timely and appropriate treatment of stroke has shown to be effective in reducing deaths and improving recovery.

Results for each participating site are published on the Royal College of Physicians' website at www.rcplondon.ac.uk.

If you feel that you have been affected by a delay in treatment after suffering from stroke then our leading medical negligence lawyers may be able to help you.
